Richard Gardner, 42, of 202 East Main died late Saturday evening in Blodgett
hospital.  He was born April 8, 1935 in Saginaw, the son of Roland and Victoria
L. Gardner.

Mr. Gardner was the former manager of Union Savings and Loan in Ionia.  He was
also employed by the Ionia Credit Bureau and Owosso Credit Bureau.  A member of
the Ionia Rotary club, he was a former member of the Ionia Jaycees, Elks and the
Moose of Saginaw.

He married the former Kay D. Wendt in Saginaw June 25, 1955 and had lived in
Ionia since 1963.

Survivors include his wife; his mother, Victoria C. Gardner of Saginaw; three
sons, Richard, Gregory and Paul at home and two brothers Gerald of Saginaw and
Michael of Lansing.

Funeral mass is Wednesday at 10 a.m. from SS Peter and Paul church with Rev.
Father Henry Dondzilla officiating.  Scripture prayer services will be Tuesday
at 8 p.m. in the Myers-Roetman funeral home.  The family will receive friends
and relatives at the funeral home Monday and Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. 
Memorial funds are established for the Cancer Society and for aid for the blind.
 Burial is in Mt. Olivet cemetery.
