Father of Village Pres. Benjamin Garlinger Long Associated Lake Odessa Business Interests. The funeral of Benjamin Garlinger one of the widest known residence of this village and who has suffered for several years, was held at the home Saturday, April 19, Rev. King of Grand Rapids, assisted by Rev. J. E. Cook, officiated. A quartet composed of Messrs. William Gilson, Leon Gilson, George Kart and Merlin Morgan, saying. Burial was in Lake Side cemetery. Mr. Garlinger was an energetic businessman, taking a good many orders for fruit and ornamental trees all through this vicinity, thereby making a wide acquaintance. He was the father of two of our honored businessmen, O. B. Garlinger and Ermal Garlinger, the latter recently elected president of the Village. The family have the sympathy of a large circle of relatives and friends. Obituary George Benjamin Garlinger was born December 1st, 1866 in the township of Maple Grove, Barry County, and departed this life April 17, 1924, age 57 years, 4 months and 16 days. At the age of two years his parents moved to what is now the old homestead, four miles east of the city, where he lived until he married Millie Nott, Sept. 26, 1892. There were born two sons. He leaves to mourn their loss his wife, mother, two sons, five brothers, three sisters and two grandsons, all living in this vicinity except Joseph Garlinger of Chicago and Will of Cadillac, Mich. He has been in poor health for ten years, having lost his eyesight about two years ago and the last six months a patient sufferer, ready and waiting for Jesus his Savior to take him home, praying for this time to come. For years he was in the Produce business, later in the Coal and Wood business, and the last eighteen years has been connected with Chase Bros. Nursery Co. of Rochester, New York.
