March 17, 2018 Laurel E. Garlinger LAKE ODESSA,MI. - Laurel E. Garlinger, age 91, of Lake Odessa, passed away unexpectedly on March 8, 2018 at her home. She was born on October 2, 1926 to Ermal and Edith (Lindquist) Garlinger in Hastings. Laurel was the valedictorian of lake Odessa High School of 1945. During her working, Laurel had been the office manager for her family's business, The Lake Odessa Produce Co. and for Dr. Steven Garlinger as well as being a receptionist for Lakeview Financial Group and Mattson Financial Services of Lake Odessa. She volunteered at the lake Odessa Fair for 83 years and was honored with the Michigan Assoc. of Fairs Heritage Award as well as being a past Grand Marshal, was a member of the Order of The Eastern Star Chapter 161, Lake Odessa Historical Society, Ionia County First Families and a member at the First Congregational Church of lake Odessa. Laurel is survived by her sister, Marcia Raffler; niece, Nancy (Gary) Mattson; nephew, Frederick (Deborah) Raffler; nephew, Dr. Steven (Melanie) Garlinger; niece, Jill (Michael) Booher; great nieces, laurel (Taylor) Steward and Tracy (Corey) Dahms, Alison (Zack) Byrd, Erin (Michael) Lahr; great nephews, Eric (Leslie) Raffler and Kurt (Kim) Raffler; great-great nieces and nephews, Addison Dahms, Anna Dahms, Camden Raffler, Gorbin Raffler, Quentin Raffler, Bryson Raffler, Lincoln Raffler, Rowan Raffler and Emerson Raffler, Payton Byrd, Avery Byrd, Cecilia Garlinger, Gavin Booher, Jack Lahr, Alexis Booher and Gemma Lahr. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ermal and Edith Garlinger; siblings, Fred (Marilyn) Garlinger and Ivar; brother-in-law, Arthur Raffler. Funeral services were held March 16, 2018 at the First Congregational Church of Lake Odessa, 767 4th Ave., Lake Odessa. Burial took place in the Lakeside cemetery, Lake Odessa. Memorials are suggested to the First Congregational Church of Lake Odessa.
