The Ionia Daily Sentinel, Friday, February 2, 1940
Edward Nowland, 12 Wager Place, received a telegram Friday from Santa Barbara, 
California announcing the death of his sister, Mrs. Mary Garrison, Thursday, 
February 1.  Her husband, James Garrison, and her brother, Mr. Nowland, are 
the only survivors.  She had been sick for quite some time.
