Joseph W. Gasper, 68, died Saturday, December 23, in Traverse City.  He was born
in Keene Township, Ionia County December 21, 1893 and had been a life resident
of that township, where he was engaged in farming.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Church, Miriam.  He was married to Matilda
Schueller in Westphalia October 8, 1918, and she died in 1941.  Survivors are
three daughters, Mrs. Wess (Carolyn) Fosburg of Saranac; Mrs. Fred (Beatrice)
Rathburn of Lowell and Mrs. Alton (Doris) Stout, of Fenwick; four sons, Wilbur,
Thomas and Robert of Belding and Jerome of Grattan; one sister, Mrs. Edward
Kennedy of New Lothrop; two brothers, Laurence of Alpena and Hugo, of Gladwin,
and 18 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday from St. Mary’s Church in Miriam with Rev.
Fr. Charles Steves officiating and the burial was in St. Mary’s cemetery.  The
Rosary was recited Monday at Huffman Funeral Home.
