Ill since December, Mrs. Gasper’s death at this time was unexpected and was a great shock to her family and friends. A heart ailment was the cause of her death. The deceased was born Matilda Schuller, near Westphalia on April 13, 1895. In 1918 she was united in marriage to Joseph Gasper and since that time had resided at the family farm home in the Miriam district. Survivors include the husband; four sons, Wilbur, Jerome, Thomas and Robert; three daughters, Carolyne, Beatrice and Doris; four sisters, Mrs. John Wahl, Mrs. James Curtin, Mrs. Frank Schuller and Eva Schuller of Lansing, and one brother, Peter Schuller of Westphalia. The rosary was recited Sunday evening at the home by the Christian Mothers society of St. Mary’s Catholic church, of which the deceased was a faithful member and funeral services were held Monday morning at 9:30 at St. Mary’s in Miriam. Rev. Fr. R. J. Kelly officiated and burial was in St. Mary’s cemetery there. Pallbearers were six nephews of Mrs. Gasper: Walter, Elgin and Donald Curtin, Roy and Ted Schuller and Robert Palmiter, all of Lansing. Hall & Cichy were in charge of arrangements.
