Grand Rapids Herald – Sunday, 6 August 1939
Floyd Gassman, 43, worker on a Lake Odessa farm, died Saturday in Community 
Hospital at Lake Odessa after he had swallowed rubbing alcohol.  He was 
unconscious 12 hours before he died.  Deputy Sheriff Myrl Doty said 
investigation will be made to determine whether Gassman drank the preparation 
by mistake or with intention to commit suicide.  Gassman is survived by his 
widow and eight children in Vassar, Mich.
