Ionia County News, 15 May 1958

Mrs. Minnie E. Gates, 90, of Sheridan former teacher there and in Ionia county, 
died Friday, May 2, in the home of a son, Mark, of Stanton.

Mrs. Gates, born in Lyons, was a member of the first graduating class of Carson 
City High School in 1888.  She later taught Ionia county schools and for 15 
years in Sheridan.  She was a life member of OES.

Surviving are two sons, Mark and Seth of Saginaw; five granddaughters and eight 
great-grandchildren.

Services were held Sunday, May 4, in the Stebbins funeral home with burial in 
Lyons cemetery.
