The Gates family would like to inform the community of Saranac and the 
surrounding area about the recent passing of Duane Gates (9-15-2014).  Duane 
and Faye along with daughter Chris and Granddaughter, Kate, moved from Saranac 
to Tuscaloosa, Alabama to be near family in the area.  They continued to live 
life to the fullest (since their departure from Michigan 13 years ago) and kept 
in touch with many friends and family through the years, always appreciative of 
the support and camaraderie that had been cultivated.  Faye preceded Duane in 
death 6-17-2010.  

They will be greatly missed by those who shared their love of life, their love 
for each other and their compassion and intensity to make a difference in this 
world.  Those left behind to celebrate the gifts that Faye and Duane so 
selflessly provided are:

Children:  Jeffery D. Gates (Vicky), Crystal L. Gates, Lori A. Gates Crouch 
(Jim).

Grandchildren:  Sarah Jane Gates Pennington (Brandon), Kasey Frank Phillips 
(Chris) Jesse Gates, Hunter Gates, Griffin Gates, Katherine Gates, Jenna 
Crouch, Megan Crouch.

Great-Grandchildren:  Brody DeWinter, Ally Jane Pennington, Lena Phillips.
