Daily Standard - Saturday, Feb. 24, 1917

Mrs. Eleazer E. Gates died at 5:30 Friday afternoon at her home on W. Main 
street, following a stroke of paralysis last Tuesday. She was 63 years old and 
had lived here about 40 years, having been born in Germany. She was a sister of 
the late Geo. Gundrum and of Dr. Fredck. Gundrum, her maiden name being Kate 
Gundrum. Before her marriage she was in the millinery business, and afterwards 
Mr. and Mrs. Gates conducted a shoe business together. The funeral will be held 
Monday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the house, 663 W. Main, Rev. E.E. Branch 
officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park. Mrs. Gates was a faithful member 
and ardent worker in the Baptist church until infirmity reduced her strength, 
always glorying in the work.
