The Portland Observer, Thursday, April 23, 1914
George Gates, a resident of Orange for many years, died at his home in that 
township Monday morning.  Mr. Gates underwent an operation for hernia some 
time ago and his condition has been critical since.  The funeral services were 
attended from the late residence Wednesday morning, Rev. Hansen officiating.  
Mr. Gates was 77 years of age and is survived by his wife.
