C.B. GAUSS FUNERAL HELD AT PALO HOME Prominent Lansing Doctor Brought Back to Scene of Start for Burial SERVICES WEDNESDAY Won Prominent Place in Chosen Profession Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at Palo for Dr. C.B. Gauss, Lansing, former resident of Palo, who died Saturday evening at St. Lawrence hospital there after several months of illness. Dr. Gauss was prominent in medical circles in Lansing and had served the Ingham County Medical association in several capacities. He was considered one of the best of the profession in the Capitol City and was held in high esteem by the medical fraternity. Starts at Palo He was born July 23, 1874, at Palo. He graduated from the U. of M. in the class of 1897, after which he served in a hospital at Ann Arbor. Following his service there he returned to Palo where he established practice including several surrounding towns. In June 1918, Dr. Gauss enlisted for service in the World War. In the following September he entered the medical division with a captain's commission. From that time until 1919, a year after the armistice was signed, Dr. Gauss remained in service. Following his discharge from the army Dr. Gauss removed to Lansing where he had been located until the time of his death. Since the St. Lawrence hospital was opened dr. Gauss had been on the staff of that institution., during one year he was chief of staff of the hospital. Fraternally Prominent Dr. Gauss was a member of the Knights Templar, Lansing, in the Lyons chapter of the blue lodge. He also was a member of the Lansing lodge of Elks and of the Lansing Exchange Club. In addition to his fraternal association he was a member of the medical association. Besides the widow, Mrs. Myrtie Gauss, he is survived by a son Victor, a brother Fred, Palo, a sister, Mrs. H. Hawley, Palo and a niece, Mrs. Fred D. Keister Jr., Ionia. Honorary pall bearers for the funeral were Dr. A.E. Owen, with whom Doctor Gauss was long associated,; Dr. J.G. Rulison; Dr. E.I. Carr; Peter Grey, Clyde ? Smith, Clare B.
