Sentinel-Std. - Friday, Oct. 12, 1962

Funeral service for Eli Chris Gaut, 91, will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at 
Stone-Kauffman funeral home. The Rev. Floyd Emshwiller, pastor of First 
Christian church, will officiate and interment will be at Sidney township 
cemetery.

Mr. Gaut died Thursday afternoon at the Lutheran Home for the aged at Edmore, 
where he had lived the past year.

He was born August 8, 1871 in Payne, Ohio, the son of Eli and Ellnora Gaut and 
was married to the former Daisy Miller, who died several years ago.

Mr. Gaut moved from Ohio to Sidney with his family in a covered wagon and had 
lived  in Sidney many years. He was employed with Ohio Bell Telephone company 
in Sherwood, Ohio, and later moved to Ionia and resided at 461 Allen street.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Mayme Ellers of Missouri; five grandchildren; 12 
great-grandchildren, and two great, great grandchildren. Two sons, Basil and 
Fred Gaut, preceded him in death.
