Sentinel-Std. - Tuesday, June 5, 1984

IONIA- Louis J. Gauthier, 63, formerly of Ionia, died Sunday at the Michigan 
Veterans Facility in Grand Rapids.

He was born April 29, 1921, in Ionia, the s on of Aidema and Hazel Johnson 
Gauthier.
 
He graduated from Ionia High School, and graduated from Colombia University as 
an ensign in 1943 and from the Ferris School of Pharmacy.

He commanded a LST during World War II.

He was a former employee of McNamara's Pharmacy and was a member of SS. Peter 
and Paul Church and the Ionia Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include one brother, Clarence of Ionia; two nephews, James Wieczorek 
of Florida and Daniel Wieczorek of Alaska; and several cousins.

Funeral mass will be Thursday at 11 a.m. from the SS Peter and Paul Church. 

Rosary will be Wednesday at 8 p.m. from the Roetman Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home today and 
Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
