Lake Odessa Wave - February 13, 1975 
          JESSE A. GAVIT DIES IN FLORIDA
   Jesse A. Gavit, 71, retired fur buyer and former resident of Lake Odessa and
Grand Ledge, was dead on 
arrival at the Morton Plant Hospital Clearwater, Florida, Friday night.
   He was born in Barry County, July 17, 1903, the son of William and Inez (Meyers)
Gavit.
   Mr. Gavit was a fur buyer from 1944 to 1956 while he resided here and retired
because of his health when 
he was 57 year old.  He married Ethel M. Hansbarger April 19, 1924 and they had
lived in Florida 15 years 
spending several weeks in the summer in the local areas.
   Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Milbern (June) Harton of Grand Ledge;
two grandchildren; one great 
grandchild and a sister, Mrs. Velma Davis of Brandon, Florida.
   Funeral services were held at 1:30 Tuesday at the Pickens-Koops Funeral Chapel at
Lake Odessa.  Rev. Gary 
Evans officiated with burial in Lakeside Cemetery.
