He had been out in front of his store sweeping off the walk, and visited with C.B. Johnson who was in front of the Kling store on the east side of the street and it is thought he died on entering the store. He had been in business in Palo for more than 40 years. Mr. Gaylord had been troubled with a goiter and heart trouble for a number of years, and it is thought that his was undoubtedly the cause of his death. He left home at 7:30 Thursday morning. The body was found on the floor of his store about two hours later by Mrs. Gaylord, his daughter, Mrs. Louis Fitzgerald, and little grandson Robert. At the time of his death Mr. Gaylord was township clerk of Ronald township. He also held this office for some time a number of years ago. Mr. Gaylord was a member of Palo lodge of F & AM and also of the Maccabee lodge there. Besides his widow he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Louis Fitzgerald of Palo and Mrs. Roy Dietrich of Lansing; two sisters, Mrs. Celia Hyde of Palo, and Mrs. Kate Crevelling of Akron, Ohio; a grandson Robert Fitzgerald and a niece Mrs. Henry Hull of Palo.
