Ionia Standard - Friday, Sept. 28, 1906

Al. H. Geck died in St. Mary hospital, at Grand Rapids, on Wednesday night, 
where he had been for care and treatment for some weeks, though his last 
illness dates back some six months. The remains will be brought to Ionia on 
Saturday morning, for funeral service at church of SS. Peter and Paul at 9 
o'clock, and for interment. Deceased was aged 47 years and was the son of the 
late Anton Geck, one of Ionia's pioneer watchmakers and jewelers. He was born 
in this city, and was for many years a leading merchant; was for many years a 
supervisor and alderman whose judgment was usually respected, but alas, 
financial reverses and weakness of the flesh were elements he could not 
overcome, and his last days were a source of sadness to his friends, of whom he 
had many in Ionia. The aged mother, now 85 years old, still survives, making 
her home with a daughter, Mrs. Mary Konkle, in Grand Rapids.
