Gee marks the passing of one whose life has been closely interwoven with the history of southeastern Lyons township. Born at Richmond, O., she came to Michigan with her parents at an early age. In 1868 she was married to the late William H. Gee, and 56 years of her life was spent on the farm southwest of Pewamo which her husband hewed out of the wilderness. She was the mother of 13 children, 11 off whom are living, namely: Frank, of Alma; Burt, of Howard City; William, of Portland; Homer and Hector, of Lyons; Dennis and Ben, of Grand Ledge; Zella, wife of J.W. Rice, of Olivet; Eric, of Pewamo; Maggie, wife of Jay Somers, of Lansing, and Humbolt, of Pontiac. There are also 41 grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters – Alanson Gearhart, of Crystal; Charles Gearhart, of Pewamo. The funeral took place Tuesday afternoon from the Methodist Episcopal church in that village, and interment was made in East Plains cemetery. She was in the seventy-second year of her age.
