He was born on June 13, 1952 in Howell, Michigan. He did not know his birth parents and was adopted by Tom and Betty (Mills) Gehringer as a baby. He struck out early to go to work at various business, finally landing at Saylor Beals in St. Johns. He worked in various positions while there. When he left, he again found work in different places, and once again landed at Federal Mogul in St. Johns, where he worked until the business closed. He married Sandra (Bloomfield) Gehringer, and they shared thirty some years together before she unexpectedly passed away in November of 2003. He married Debbie (Schmitz) Gehringer on October 2, 2004, and they were together until the time of his death. He and Sandy raised three cildrne, Stanley Bloomfield of Lansing, MI, Laurie (Dale) Hrymecki of St. Johns, MI, and Terry Pouch, who preceded both Mike and Sandy in death. Also surviving Michael are sisters, Eileen (Bruce) Moore of Laingsburg, Debbie (Rick) Smith of Ovid, and Diane Graves of Vassar, MI. He had a special placed in his heart for many people, but none so much as his granddaughter, Nicole (Roy Miller) Pouch. He is also survived by his wife, Debbie; step son, Scott (Amber) Osborne of Pewamo; sister- in-laws, Diane Schafer and Judy Schmitz, both of Portland, along with many nieces, nephews, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 3, 2014 at Mt. Hope Church, Portland, with Pastor Joe Robe presiding.
