Geiger, 76, of Belding, passed away Monday, Dec. 7, 1998, at Spectrum Health Downtown Campus. She was born April 3, 1922, in Grand Rapids to Robert and Lillian Laux Schoeborn. She was a licensed Practical Nurse and Training Attendant for many years. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Ave Maria Guild, The Foster Grandparent Program and the Ionia County Literacy Council. She was married Feb. 15, 1947, at St. Mary’s Miriam to Raymond Geiger and he survives with their children Jacqueline and William Jr. Edmonds, Belding, Carolyn vonSchwarz, Grosse Pointe Farms, Phyllis and Larry Lachniet, Belding, Raymond Jr., Ionia, Robert and Jo-Anne Geiger, Alamo Gordo, N.M., Wayne and Tammi Geiger, Smyrna, Greg Geiger, Orleans, and daughter-in-law Sherry Geiger, Harper Woods. She is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her sisters and brothers, Sister Evelyn Schoenborn, Ionia, Sister Catherine Schoenborn, Guthrie, Kentucky, Jackie and Fred Pangborn, Berkeley, Teresa and Jean Krause, Perry, Pauline Powers, Belding, Jim Schoenborn, Belding, Lawrence and Karen Schoenborn, Parnell, Art Schoenborn, Seter Springs, Sylvester “Buck” and Pat Schoenborn, Houghton Lake, and a sister-in-law-Alice Schoenborn, Lowell. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Brian Geiger in 1997, two sisters, and three brothers, Sister Phyllis Schoenborn, Maurice Schoenborn, Raymond Schoenborn and infant twins, Donald and Donna. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Belding, with Father Troy A. Nevins officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Miriam. Visitation will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., with a Rosary Service at 8:30 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Belding. Memorials may be made to the Ionia County Literacy Council or the charity of one’s choice.
