FREEPORT- Thelma V. Geiger, 72, of 293 Cherry St., Freeport, died Feb. 19 at 
St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Rapids.

She was born May 3, 1916, in Grattan Township to Lewis and Alice Blaser 
Wingeier.

She attended Lowell High School and married Charles Geiger June 12, 1936, in 
Lowell.

They owned Geiger Insurance Agency in Freeport and published the Freeport News 
and the Clarksville Record, where she wrote the column "The Geiger Counter." 
Her column was also published in Detroit Free Press in the Bits and Pieces 
section.

She was a member of the Freeport Rebekah Lodge, the Freeport Order of the 
Eastern Star, the Freeport United Methodist Church, where she was the choir 
director. She was the coordinator of Freeport Homecoming Talent Show for 
several years and was an active musician all her life. 

She is survived by her husband Charles; one son, Ronald of Freeport; three 
daughters, Alyce Hoffman of Wayne, Sharon Jacobs of Hastings, Connie Allred of 
Denver; and seven grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert and Gus.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Freeport United Methodist 
Church with the Rev. John Jack and the Rev. Jerry Drummond officiating.

Burial will be in the Freeport Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Koops Funeral Chapel in Clarksville.

Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Mary's Kidney Dialysis 
Department, in  care of the funeral chapel.
