Evelyn was born September 27, 1916 in Keene Township to Floyd and Wilma (Hull) Sparks. She graduated from Saranac High School with the class of 1935 and then attended Davenport College. Evelyn was married to the love of her life, Ernest Geiger on July 1, 1939 at her parents’ home. Early in their marriage they were special parents to her nephew Bob Sparks and niece Gala Sparks, they then had three children of their own while living on their family farm. Evelyn was an active member in the Smyrna Cooperative Extension Club, Smyrna Social Club, Friendship Club, the Good Fellowship Club, Smyrna Bunco Club, a member of the Gleaners for 60 years, and a 4-H Leader for 16 years. Evelyn and Ernest were also members of the German-American Club in Standale, Michigan where they attended many dances. They were also avid Euchre players. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Ernest, her parents, and brother Alden Sparks. Evelyn is loved and deeply missed by her children: Sharon (Terry) Webb, Glenn (Marcia) Geiger, and Susan Geiger; grandchildren Rebecca Brecken, Sarah (Chris) Gallietta, Ralph (Ann) Brecken, Rachel (Todd) Phillips, Lynne (Aaron) Wester, Erin (Dave) Nostrandt, Ryan (Mindy) Webb and Rudy (Darcy) Webb; as well as 18 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter; a brother and sister-in-law Stephen (Ila) Sparks of Saranac; along with many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were Saturday, March 7, 2015 at the First Congregational Church, Belding. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate memorials be given to the Belding Library, Ionia County Commission on Aging, or Heartland Hospice.
