Ionia County News, 18 Apr 1963

Russell Alger Geiger, 61, 518 N. Jackson St., Ionia, died unexpectedly on Sunday
morning, April 14, at the Osteopathic hospital in Muskegon.  Mr. Geiger was born
in Barry county, on October 2, 1901 and was the son of Henry and Ruth Smith
Geiger.  He was married on November 8, 1920, in Ionia, to Phebe Slater, of
Clarksville.

He had been employed at the Ionia County Road Commission for the past 24 years
and was a member of Ionia Moose Lodge, 998.

Survivors include his wife, Phebe; two daughters, Mrs. Madeline Johnson of Grand
Rapids and Mrs. Eleanor Potter of Grand Haven; three sons, Donald of Ionia,
LeRoy of Saranac and C.V. of Lake Odessa; his mother, Mrs. Ruth Geiger of Lake
Odessa; a brother, Paul Geiger of Woodland; two sisters, Mrs. Beulah Slocum of
Ionia and Mrs. Artith Spencer of Lake Odessa; and 20 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 17, at 2:00 p.m. at Myers funeral
home with Rev. Henry Buikema of Lowell officiating.  Burial was in Sunset
Memorial Garden Shrines.
