Geigle, age 76 years, passed away at his home in Orleans Sunday morning, May 1st, at 9:45. He had been ill for the past five years. The last 17 years of his life were spent in this community. The deceased was born September 7, 1878 in Germany. He served in the regular army from 1914-17. For a number of years he worked as receiving and shipping clerk at the Michigan Wheel Company, Winegars Furniture Company and as a guard at the United States Post Office in Grand Rapids. During his residence in that city he attended the St. Johns Lutheran church. On August 31, 1938 he was married to Jennie Tennis in Angola, Indiana, who survives. Also surviving are one son, Fred, of Muskegon, a daughter, Mrs. William Mercery of Grand Rapids, four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, and four sisters, Mrs. Edgar Freeman, Mrs. Samuel Woolpert, Mrs. R. J. Soules and Mrs. Howard Wood, all of Grand Rapids. The body was at Ellis funeral home until Tuesday morning, when it was taken to the Rauschenberger-Walcott Funeral Home in Grand Rapids. A military service, under the direction of the American Legion, George Gobell post of that city was conducted at 3:30 Wednesday afternoon. Rev. Paul Gutknecht, pastor of the local Holy Cross Lutheran church officiated at the service. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery in Grand Rapids.
