Gellendin, 67, of 671 North Jackson street died unexpectedly at his residence Monday evening. He was born in Ionia November 23, 1908, the son of William and Bertha Zander Gellendine. He attended the St. Johns Lutheran school and graduated from Ionia high school. He worked for Ypsilanti - Reed Furniture Company for several years and then served with the U.S. army during WWII. Following his discharge from the service, he returned to Ionia and was employed as a corrections officer at the Michigan Reformatory for 23 years retiring in December of 1974. He was a member of the St. Johns Lutheran church. Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Richard (Esther) Swartz of Greenville and Henrietta Gellendin of Ionia; two nieces. Services will be Thursday at 2 pm from the Leddick funeral home with Rev. A.R. Gallert of St. Johns Lutheran church officiating. Interment will be at the Highland Park cemetery. the family will be at the funeral home Wednesday from 2-4 pm and from 7-9 pm to receive friends and relatives. A memorial fund has been established for the St. Johns Lutheran church building fund. Gellendin, 67, of 617 North Jackson street died unexpectedly at his residence Monday evening of an apparent heart attack. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time and will be announced at a later date by the Leddick Funeral Home. The family will be at the Leddick funeral home to receive friends and relatives Tuesday from 7-9 pm and Wednesday from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm.
