Ionia Daily Standard – Monday 13 February 1899
Mrs. William Gellendin, Allen street, died this morning.  A daughter was born 
to her a few days ago, and died when two days old.  The mother’s death 
followed closely, leaving the husband alone.  Deceased was a popular and much 
loved young woman in the German settlement, and the notice of her death was a 
great shock.  She was Edith Gierman in her maidenhood, and was married only a 
short year ago.  The funeral will be attended on Wednesday afternoon at 2 
o’clock from St. John’s Lutheran church.
