He was born in Auburn, N.Y., March 5, 1854, coming to Michigan when he was quite young. In 1870?, He was married to Miss Katherine Jacobs in Ionia, where they have resided for nearly 50 years. Mr. Genuend was a retired cigar manufacturer. He was also a quartermaster sergeant for four months in the Spanish-American war. Besides the widow, he leaves a daughter, Mrs. Gertrude Long, of Ionia; a son, Harry Gemuend Ionia attorney, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. [Unreadable] the funeral arrangements have not been made. ------------ Funeral services for Leonard P. Gemuend were held at the Bradley funeral home at 8:30 and at the SS Peter and Paul church at 9 o’clock, Wednesday morning. Interment was at the family lot, Mt. Olivet cemetery. The flag draped casket was carried by three veterans of the Spanish-American war, Glenn Lawless, Abe Snyder and Henry Miller, also Anthony Scully, Frank Wirtz and William Kilmartin.
