John A. Gensterblum, 79, of Pewamo passed away on April 10, 2002.  He was born 
in Portland, December 28, 1922 the son of Albert J. and Mary (Schlicht) 
Gensterblum and lived in Pewamo most of his life.  He was employed by Motor 
Wheel for 30 years and was a farmer, a veteran of World War II, a member of St. 
Joseph Catholic Church and V.F.W. Post #3733.

John married Katherine O’Connell in Hubbardston on August 26, 1972 and she 
preceded him in death.  In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death 
by a nephew, Michael Gensterblum; brother, Edward Gensterblum; and sister 
Laurina O’Connell.

Surviving are his brother, Herman (Rose Marie) Gensterblum; two sisters, 
Florence Smith of Pewamo and Sister Mary Albert of Wilmette, Ill.; and several 
nieces and nephews.

The funeral Mass was celebrated April 13 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in 
Pewamo with Rev. Charlon Mason officiating.  Military services were provided by 
the V.F.W. Post #3733.  Arrangements were handled by Osgood Funeral Home, St. 
Johns.  Contributions to the V.F.W. Post #3733 or St. Joseph Catholic Church 
will be appreciated.
