Arthur C. W. “Dutch” German Jr., 73, of Pekin, died at 2:40 p.m. Tuesday, 
August 12, 2003 at his residence.  He was born October 1, 1929 in 
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Arthur C. and Josephine Mack German.  He married 
Nancy Powers on December 17, 1954 in Portland.

Surviving are his wife, of Pekin; three sons, David (Peggy) German of Rocky 
Mountain, North Carolina, John German of Manito, Illinois and Thomas 
(Christina) German of Pekin, Illinois; and six grandchildren.  He was preceded 
in death by one sister, Josephine German Frame.

Mr. German worked in the engineering department at Caterpillar, Inc. for 36 
years retiring in 1992.  He served in the US Army from 1954 to 1956 and was a 
member of the Caterpillar Retirees Club and was an Escort at Pekin Hospital.  
He was an avid fisherman, had been Webelo Leader for Pack 87 in Pekin, a 
little league coach and had played in the Fast and Slow Pitch Ball Leagues in 
Pekin.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, August 15, 2003 at Noel-Henderson 
Funeral Home in Pekin.  The Rev. Terry Edele will officiate.  Visitation will 
be from 5 – 7 p.m. Thursday, August 14 at the funeral home.  Cremation has 
been accorded.  Memorials may be made to Tazewell Animal Protective Society, 
2601 Allentown Road, Pekin, IL 61544 or to the Salvation Army, 243 Derby St. 
Pekin, IL  61554.
