The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Monday, May 5, 1969


Mrs. Orma Jessie Gerrils, 52, of 691 Louisa, died Saturday afternoon at Grand 
Rapids Osteopathic hospital, shortly after admission.  She was born in Carson 
City, July 16, 1916, the daughter of Silas and Mable Johnson Bennett.  At the 
age of seven she moved with her family to Ionia and attended the Badder 
school.  January 16, 1934 she was married to Cecil Gerrils at the Methodist 
parsonage and has made her home here since.

Surviving besides her husband Cecil, are two sons, Erwin and Larry both 
serving with the navy; five daughters, Mrs. Raymond Adair of Saranac, Mrs. 
Dawn Spencer of Grand Rapids, Mrs. Arthur Antcliff of Belding, Mrs. Walter 
McCabe of Wacousta, Wis., Roxie Gerrils at home.  Also surviving are a 
brother, Warren Bennett of Fenwick; three sisters, Mrs. Leona Johnston of 
Ionia, Mrs. Arrilla Stevens of Fenwick and Mrs. Emma Loucks of Crystal; 19 
grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Boynton-Leddick funeral home.  
Rev. Marvin Hale of Temple Baptist church will officiate and burial will be at 
Easton cemetery.

Rev. Marvin Hale of Temple Baptist church officiated at funeral services 
Wednesday for Mrs. Orma J. Gerrils who died Saturday at Grand Rapids.  Special 
music was provided by Dan Tuller at the piano.  Due to the late arrival of her 
two sons, Erwin and Larry, from Naples, Italy, private graveside services will 
be on Thursday at 1 p.m. at Easton cemetery.  Rev. Hale will officiate.

Honorary bearers were William Hopkins, Randy Antcliff, Kenneth Haverstick, 
James Ryder, Clair Benote, and William Neilson.
