The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Friday, March 18, 1949


Gertrude M. Getts, 71, died Thursday, March 17, at her home in Evergreen 
township, where she had resided for 49 years.  She was born August 18, 1877 in 
Paulding County, Ohio.  She was a member of Mud Lake Community church.

Her survivors are two sons, Emmett Getts of Ionia, who is night captain of the 
guards at the Ionia reformatory, and Russell Getts; two daughters, Mrs. Byran 
Hinman of Clawson and Mrs. Durwood Brand of Ionia; a brother, Irvin Brown of 
Sheridan; a sister, Effie Moses of Jackson; five grandchildren, Lloyd, Donald 
and Darwin Hinman of Clawson, and Vilma Terwilliger and Geraldine Brand of 
Ionia; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Mud Lake church with 
interment in Evergreen cemetery.
