Floyd Getz, son of Adam Getz, now of Brinton, bur formerly a farmer of this vicinity, died at the U.B.A. hospital at Grand Rapids on Sunday noon, after a very brief illness in that institution. He was taken there on the fourteenth day of March to be operated on for appendicitis, as he was taken sick with this disease the latter part of February at Cascade, and was there quite ill for a couple of weeks. He got up from this illness however, and visited here and at various places among relatives for several days, before concluding to go to Grand Rapids and undergo the operation that the doctors told him would be necessary to insure his health or his life for any great length of time. He rallied from the operation which took place on the 16th day of this month, and seemed to be getting along nicely, until a hemorrhage of the bowels took place later and his death soon occurred afterwards. The remains were brought to this village on Tuesday noon, and were at once taken to the Odd Fellow lodge rooms, where they were watched over by his brother Odd Fellows until on Wednesday forenoon, when the funeral was held in the Odd Fellow hall and his remains then interred in Lakeside cemetery. Much of his life has been spent in the vicinity of this village, and consequently had a large circle of friends here. For the past year or more he has been working for the Citizens Telephone Company in the construction gang. He was first taken sick with appendicitis at Ionia last spring, from which he soon recovered. Those present at the funeral from away were Adam Getz and son, Will, of Brinton, Arthur Getz, of Grand Ledge; Mrs. Will Post of Clarksville, and Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Geary, of Grand Rapids. The Odd Fellows turned out in a large body to pay their last respects to the memory of a brother.
