Ionia- Woodrow C. Gharst, 74, of 175 E. Main Street, Ionia died Monday at 
Ionia County Memorial Hospital.

He was born October 11, 1918, in Ingraham, Illinois, the son of James and 
Hattie Blair Gharst.

He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Air Force, and a member 
of the Ionia VFW.

He was a retired GenCorp welder.

He is survived by three daughters, Joan Merklinger of Grand Rapids, Carol 
Rossell of Ionia, and Darlene Daul of Belding; 10 grandchildren and 10 great 
grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at East Plains Cemetery in 
Matherton.

The family will be at the Hull Memorial Chapel in Muir from 7-9 p.m. 
Tuesday.
