John E. Gibbs, 74, of Portland, passed away on Oct. 1, 2006.  John was born on
Nov. 10, 1931 in Ann Arbor the son of Ray and Sadie Gibbs.  He enjoyed building
scooters and go-karts and hunting.  John retired from A.I.C. as a pipe layer and
loved and enjoyed his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce; brother Frank Gibbs; brother and
sister in-laws Charles and Frances Wohlscheid; sister-in-law, Verna Wohlscheid;
and brother-in-law William Galey.  Surviving are children, Brenda (Scott) Miller
of Portland and Tony (Amanda) Gibbs of Caledonia; grandchildren Sadie
Fulmerhouser, Trent and Ryan Miller, Tracy and Eric Gibbs; brother-in-laws
Howard Wohlscheid of Portland and Robert Wohlscheid of Ionia; sister-in-law,
Dortha Galey of Portland; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted by Pastor Marilyn V. Danielson on Oct. 3, at the
Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Portland.  Memorial contributions may be made to
the V.F.W.
