She was born Aug. 29, 1922, in Ionia, the daughter of Eugene and Dorothy Eavie Bordon. Marian graduated from Belding High School and was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary, Sheridan. On May 30, 1941, in Palo, Marian married Max Gibbs Sr. He preceded her in death on June 22, 2001. She is survived by her children, Yvonne and Gordon Stene, Yvette Chittenden, Cindy and Scott Brokaw, Max Jr. and Allean Gibbs, Scott and Kathy Gibbs, Tim and Ronda Gibbs, all of Belding, Kelly and Sue Gibbs of South Haven; 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, her brothers and sister and their spouses Robert and Kendra Bordon of Palo, Lionel and Bonnie Allore of Detroit, Jenevieve and Ray Grizzel of Grand Blanc; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Shirley. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding, with Pastor Ken Harger officiating. Interment is in Oak Hill Cemetery, Ionia. Visitation is 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Shiloh Community Church.
