Byron Gibbs was stricken with paralysis last Thursday while sitting in the yard with his wife at their pleasant home. Surrounded by his family and friends he lingered till about noon, July 25th, when the end came. Mr. Gibbs was born in Pittsburg, Pa., November 12, 1850, coming to Sebewa with the family when but a child, where he has since lived. For years Mr. Gibbs has been an earnest and faithful worker in all that went to make the world about him better. As one of the most faithful members of the Wesleyan Methodist church, he will be missed, being class leader and member of the church board. Mr. Gibbs has been in poor health for several months and when told that he could not live but a few months, he calmly trusted his God and expressed himself many times as ready and willing to leave all with Him who “doeth all things well.” Besides his many friends he leaves a faithful wife, a son, Bruce, a daughter, Mrs. Geo. Thorpe, Jr., a sister, Mrs. C. Sanborn, two brothers, Geo. Gibbs of Carson City and Norman Gibbs of this place. Funeral will be held at the W. M. Church, July 28th, conducted by A. A. Alverson and Rev. Watrous. File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/mi/ionia/obits/g/gibbs7414nob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.net/mifiles/ File size: 1.8 Kb
