She had been residing with her son, Forrest J. Gibson, in Colorado Springs, Colo. Katherine was born in the Parnell community in 1910 to Elizabeth and Patrick Fingleton. Katherine was the beloved wife of Donald M. Gibson, who passed away at the early age of 44. Katherine has left all of us in a better place for knowing and sharing her life. She was a devoted teacher to hundreds of students at Tasker Country School, Saranac Public Schools, Greenville Public Schools and then primarily Belding Area Schools until her retirement after 25 years of teaching. She resumed her educational teacher degree at the master’s level after the death of her husband. She was a beloved member of Miriam Church and the surrounding neighborhood. She was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Joseph. Katherine will be so missed by her four children, Mary Kay, Becky, Forrest and David. Katherine was blessed with 10 grandchildren, Michael, Bob, Tom, Tim, Terry, John, Mary, David, Jenny and Andy. She then enjoyed hearing of the lives of her 14 great-grandchildren. Her children have so admired her strength throughout all phases of her life, basically for her determination to follow through on the plans Donald had for their four children. Good-bye Mother/Grandma Gibson. We love you. Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Miriam, with Father CK as celebrant. Interment is in St. Mary Cemetery, Miriam. Katherine’s family will greet relatives and friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday with a rosary prayed at 8 p.m. at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding. Memorial contributions may be given to the Alvah N. Belding Library.
