Gerald Edward Gibson, age 76, of Ionia, passed away Oct. 25, 2013.  He was born 
April 15, 1937 in Petoskey the son of James and Lillian (Pope) Gibson.

Gerald graduated from Petoskey High School in 1955.  He married Barbara Ann 
Godden on Oct. 24, 1959, in Ionia.  Gerald worked at Kroger for many years and 
later retired from corrections in 1991.  He was a member of St. Peter & Paul 
Catholic Church.  Gerald loved spending time with his grandchildren and 
watching the grandchildren's soccer games.  He enjoyed to watch the Detroit 
Tigers and playing golf.  Gerald loved spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Barbara Gibson of Ionia; 
children, Kimberly Powers (Dale Vogt) of Ionia and Cynthia (Jason) Mayle of 
Ionia; brothers James (Doris) Gibson II of Petoskey, Clyde (Ann) Gibson of Yale 
and Leslie Gibson of Oden; sister, Mary Breeze of Oden; grandchildren, Corinne, 
Tyson, Justin, Jenna, and Jordan; and great-grandson, Oliver.  He was preceded 
in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29 at SS Peter & Paul 
Catholic Church with Father Thomas Boufford officiating.  Visitation will be 
held Monday, Oct. 28 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia.  
Memorial contributions may be made in Gerald's name to SS Peter & Paul Catholic 
Church.
