Ionia Shopper's Guide-Sat. March 21, 2020

GIBSON, Barbara Ann Gibson, age 84, of Ionia, passed away March 13, 2020. She 
was born January 23, 1936 in Ionia, the daughter of LeRoy and Rosamond 
(Parham) Godden. Barbara was a faithful member of the SS. Peter & Paul 
Catholic Church. She worked at Michigan Bell for many years. Barbara enjoyed 
gardening, swimming at the YMCA, dancing and entertaining guests at her home. 
Most of all Barbara loved spending time with her family, especially her 
cherished grandchildren.

Preceding her in death are her parents; beloved husband of 54 years, Gerald 
Gibson; brothers, David and William Godden; and brother-in-law, James (Doris) 
Gibson and Leslie Gibson. Surviving Barbara are her daughters, Kimberly (Dale 
Vogt) Powers and Cynthia (Jason) Mayle; grandchildren, Corinne (Adam) 
Haberstich, Tyson (Megan Bennett) Powers, Justin (Ashley) Mayle, Jenna (Rahul 
Gollapui) Mayle, and Jordan Mayle; great-grandchildren, Oliver, Ava, 
Elizabeth, Arthur, Max and Harlow; brother, Tom (Judy) Godden; sister, Karen 
Martin; sisters-in-law, Jan Godden and Mary Breeze; brother-in-law, Clyde 
(Ann) Gibson; and many nieces and nephews.

The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by Rev. Thomas Brown at 11 a.m., 
Friday, March 20, 2020 at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Ionia. Rite of 
Committal will be  in the spring at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family received 
friends on Thursday, March 19 from 3-7 p.m. at the Lehman Funeral Home, 220 
Rich Street, Ionia and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. 
For those wishing, contributions may be made to Grace Hospice of SS. Peter & 
Paul Catholic Church in memory of Barbara. Arrangements are entrusted to
