March 18, 1986 FREDERICK W. GIERMAN IONIA - Frederick W. Gierman, 73, Ionia, died Monday in Lowell Medical Care Facility. He was born in grand Rapids April 6, 1912, the son of Frank and Mary McAlary Gierman. He attended SS.Peter and Paul Schools graduating in 1929. He worked at the Hub Shoe Store in Ionia for several years, before entering the U.S. Army early in 1942. He served with the Sixth Armored Division of Gen. George Patton's Third Army, receiving five battle stars for service in France and Central Europe. He was discharged from military service in 1945, and returned to Ionia and his job at the Hub Shoe Store. Later, he worked at Perron's until that busines was sold, then went to work for Coe Auto Sales fo many years. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Church. Survivors include a sister, Donna Hauck of Grand Rapids; one nephew, Tom Hauck, and one niece, Mary Kay Hauck, both students at Michigan State university. Rosary services will be Wednesday at 8 p.m. from the Montgomery-Leddick funeral Home. Funeral mass will be Thursday at 11 a.m. from SS. Peter and Paul Church. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.. Memorials have been established to Ionia Area Hospice.
