Janet Marilyn (Sandborn) Gilbert, of Lake Odessa passed away Sunday, November
23, 2008 at the age of 75.  She was born March 28, 1933 in Portland, the
daughter of Riley H. and Anis B. (Benschoter) Sandborn.  Janet married Gerald W.
Gilbert on March 4, 1950.

She was an active member of the Sunfield United Methodist Church for 50 years. 
A member of Farm Bureau as well.  Her hobbies included gardening, sewing, and
most importantly volunteering with CROP walk and Relay for Life.  She had a
great love for her family; especially her grandchildren.  Janet had a wonderful,
loving spirit.  She was loved by all who knew her.  She will be greatly missed.

Mrs. Gilbert was preceded in death by both her parents, great grandson Joshua
Harold, brothers, Howard Sandborn, and Riley Sandborn, and sisters Maxine Volk
and Joyce Lyons.  She is survived by her husband, Gerald Gilbert and their four
daughters, Karen (Kenneth) Oesch, Nancy (Gordon) Cannon, Peggy (Steven) Buche,
and Marilyn (Kyle) Goodemoot; sisters, June Higbee, Bonnie (Mike) Jameson, Judy
(Al) McCrumb, Betty (Tom) Russell, and brothers Louie (Mary) Sandborn, Richard
(Marsha) Sandborn, Kendall (Barbara) Sandborn, and Gary Sandborn.

A Celebration of Life Service was held Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at the
Sunfield United Brethren Church.  The pallbearers will be Mark Oesch, Jim Oesch,
Keith Cannon, Lance Goodemoot, Jason McConnell, and Giles Charriere.  Honorary
pallbearers will be Andrew George, and Chad Osborne.  For those wishing,
contributions may be made to the Missions at the Sunfield United Methodist
Church, Manna’s Market in Woodland, or the American Cancer Society in memory of
Mrs. Gilbert C/O RFH P.O. Box 36, Sunfield, MI 48890.  Interment will be in the
East Sebewa Cemetery following the service at the Church.  The family is being
served by the Independent Family Owned Funeral Home in Sunfield: Rosier Funeral
Home.
