Ionia County News, 28 Feb 1929

Word was received in South Boston Wednesday of the death in Grand Rapids Tuesday
of Ralph J. Gilbert, former resident of this township.  Mr. Gilbert had been a
sufferer from Addison’s disease superinduced by a recent attack of influenza. 
Although born in Kalkaska 45 years ago, he was long a resident of South Boston
prior to his removal several years ago to Grand Rapids.  He was the son of Mr.
Joel Gilbert, also former residents of the township.  It is a peculiar
coincidence that he died on the sixteenth birthday of his daughter, Elsie, who
survives him.  Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon from the Burton
Heights chapel, Grand Rapids.  Burial will be in South Boston cemetery with a
prayer service at the grave.  Mrs. Florence Noyes, of Clarksville, a sister,
survives him.
