The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Wednesday, June 24, 1936

Funeral services for Robert Gilchrist, who died from injuries received in an 
automobile accident last Thursday were held from the Church of Christ Tuesday 
afternoon, June 23 at 2 o’clock.  Rev. Paul Stewart officiated and interment 
was held at Highland Park cemetery.

Mrs. Ted Bloomer played the organ through the service and Mrs. Ray Colwell and 
Mrs. Thane Benedict furnished the music.  Mrs. George Coe, Sr., Mrs. Ralph 
Smith and Rudolph Johnson took care of the flowers.

Pall bearers were national guardsmen, Sergeant Stearns, Sergeant Bennett, 
Sergeant Braman, Corporal Braman, Corporal Perry and Private North.

At the grave a volley was fired by the firing squad consisting of Sergeant 
Comer, Privates Allen, Charles Dowsett, M. Comer, James Hogan, Robert Hogan 
and G. Burns, followed by taps.
