The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Friday, February 11, 1966

Mrs. Dora Adell Gilchrist, 78, of 533 West Main street, died early Thursday 
morning in the Greenville United Memorial hospital.  She was a lifelong 
resident of Ionia and operated a grocery store and bakery in Ionia 33 years.  
She was the daughter of Steve and Elizabeth Dickenson and was married to Ralph 
Gilchrist who died in 1946.  Mrs. Gilchrist was a life member of First 
Christian church.

She is survived by one son, Alton Perry and two daughters, Mrs. Estella Getts 
and Mrs. Marie Hart of Ionia; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; a 
brother, George Belden of Barryton and a sister, Mrs. Rosalea Phenix of 
Monticello, Fla.

Funeral service will be at First Christian church at 2 p.m. Saturday with the 
Rev. James Kendall officiating and interment at Balcom cemetery.  The family 
will be at the Stone-Kauffman funeral home Friday evening from 7 to 9 o’clock 
to receive friends.  The body will be removed to the church at 11 o’clock 
Saturday morning.
