He had been ill only since Saturday morning, when he suffered a heart attack. Mr. Gilhooly came to Ionia from Gardner, Mass., in 1915 and worked for 31 years as foreman in the came and reed department at the Ypsilanti Reed company. He was born in Ireland, and came to Massachusetts when he was 16 years old. He had been a member of the Ionia Elks lodge No. 548 for 30 years, and of the Holy Name society of SS. Peter and Paul church. He is survived only by nieces and nephews. The body will remain at the Boynton funeral home until Tuesday noon, and then will be shipped to Worcester, Mass, for services and burial. The body will be accompanied there by a nephew, Tom Gilhooly. The Holy Name society will recite the rosary at 7:30 p.m. Monday evening, October 21, at the Boynton funeral home.
