Gillette, 50, passed away at his home at 1002 Lakeview Dr., Lake Odessa, Friday morning. He had been ill since January and was hospitalized at the Carson City Hospital for several days and was released to his home on Thursday. Mr. Gillette was born in Detroit, October 12, 1923, the son of Otto and Maritz (Bradshaw) Gillette and had attended the Detroit schools and completed his high school while in the service. A Veteran of World War II he enlisted March 24, 1941 in the Army and served in Germany under General Patton and was discharged February 20, 1946 as a First Lieutenant in the artillery division. He married Marian Tomlian in January of 1947 and they moved to Mason in 1950 and they resided there while he was employed by the Lansing Furniture Store, then in August of 1965 they moved to Lake Odessa. Mr.Gillette was manager of the St.John's Furniture store after moving here and the family owned and operated the Gillette Sport Shop at Jordan Lake. He was a member of the Stiles American Legion Post at St. Johns and a member of St.Edwards Church. Surviving are his wife; two sons, Richard of Lake Odessa and Harold R.Jr. at home; three daughters, Cynthia Ann, Patricia Jean and Mary Ann at home; one granddaughter, Jennifer; two sisters, Mrs.Joseph (Dorothy) Kustasz of Detroit and Mrs. John (Delores) Gauchi of Torrence, Calif. and two brothers, Donald of Norwalk, calif. and Douglas also of Calif. Mr. Gillette reposed at the Pickens-Koops funeral Chapel where the rosary was recited at 8 p.m. Sunday evening. Funeral Mass was held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Edwards Church with burial in Lakeside Cemetery. Father Robert Maternoki officiated.
