Lake Odessa Wave - August 5 1981
          MRS. FLORENCE L. GILLIAND
   LANSING - Mrs. Florence L. Gilliand, 95, of 901 Gordon St., Lansing, died July 28
at Lansing General 
Hospital.
   She was born Jan. 1, 1886, in Clarksville, the daughter of Oscar and Alice
(Curtis) Lepard.  She attended 
Pennock and Lake Odessa Schools, and married Orley Gilliland, Sept. 12, 1912, in
Clarksville.  He preceded 
her in death in 1948.
   They lived in the Clarksville, Lake Odessa area until 1944 when they moved to
Lansing.
   She was a member of the Lake Odessa Grange and the Central United Methodist
Church, of Lake Odessa.
   She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Tresse Newman, of San Jose, Calif.:  two
sons, Barnard, of Otsego 
and Russell, of Holt;  nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one
great-great-grandchild.
   Services were July 30 at 1:30 p.m. at Pickens-Koops Funeral Chapel.
   Burial was at Lakeside Cemetery.
