Ionia Sentinel Standard - January 26, 1989
   IONIA -- Harry "Wayne" Gilliland, 67, died January 25, at Ionia County Memorial
Hospital.

   He was born November 13, 1921, in Odessa Township the son of Bert and Elsie
(Kingman) Gilliland.

   He attended Lake Odessa Schools, and married Onalee Anway just prior to entering
the military.  She 
precede him in death in 1972

   He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. he later married Betty Ann
Corbeau on June 8, 1973, in 
Ionia.  He owned and operated Wayne's Sales and Service for 27 years until his
retirement in 1986.

  He is survived by his wife; two sons, David of Ionia and Stephen of Boulder,
Colorado; one step-daughter, 
Karen Joynt of Ionia; 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild, two brothers,
George of Kalamazoo and Tom 
of Morrison Lake; one sister, Margaret Gardner of St. Petersburg, Fla.; many nieces
and nephews.  He was 
preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

   Cremation has taken place.  A memorial service will be held Jan. 28, at the First
Untied Methodist Church 
Chapel at 1:30 p.m., with the Rev. Keith Bovee officiating.  Burial will be in
Lakeside Cemetery in Lake Odessa.

  Memorial contributions can be made to the Ionia Area Hospice, the First United
Methodist Church Memorial 
fund, or the Seventh Day Adventist School.
