September 13, 1945 BERT GILLILAND BURIED TODAY Bert B. Gilliland, 62, of Lake Odessa, died at Edward W.Sparrow hospital in Lansing, Monday morning from a heart ailment. He had been in failing health for several months. He was born in Odessa Township and had lived his entire life here coming to the village to reside when a small boy. He was a member of the local I.O.O.F lodge. Surviving are the widow Elsie and eight children three daughters and five sons, Mrs.Margaret Burt at Flint, Karl in Lansing, Corporal George at Carlsbad, N.W., Pfc.Charles at Olmstead Field, Pa., Mrs Doris Collier in Kalamazoo, Sergeant Harry W. with the 35th Division, Mrs.Mary Cowels and Thomas at home; six grandchildren, a brother Orley in Lansing, and three sisters, Mrs Fern Carrothers in Grand Rapids, Mrs. Orpha Hubbard at Saranac, and Mrs. Burma Nabor at Oakland, Cal. Funeral services were held this Thursday afternoon at the Wortley & Baines Chapel and burial was in Lakeside Cemetery.
