The funeral will be held Saturday at 1:30 at the home and 2:00 p.m. at the Congregational church. Mrs. Gilliland is the mother of Mrs. Fern Carrothers of Grand Rapids, Mrs. Orpha Hubbard of Saranac, Mrs. Berma Nabor, and two sons Bert and Orley Gilliland, all of Lake Odessa. Mrs. Henry Karcher of Lake Odessa is a sister. There are several grandchildren. Mrs. Gilliland has lived in this village and vicinity all her life excepting a few weeks at a time with her children since her husband’s death. Subsequent Publication: Thursday, April 1, 1937 Sarah Marie Bever, the oldest daughter of William and Sarah A. Bever, was born in Dallas county, Iowa, September 10, 1860, and died at her home March 24, 1937, at the age of 76 years, six months, and 14 days. She was brought by her parents to Michigan when a few weeks old and spent her entire life in and around Lake Odessa. She was married to Thomas Breckenridge Gilliland, May 11, 1881, and lived the first seven years north of the village, moving later to the town residence, where they spent the remainder of their happy married life. Mr. Gilliland severed the tie February 18, 1931, and since his death she had lived at the respective homes of their children, spending the summers here in Lake Odessa. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Fern Carrothers of Grand Rapids, Mrs. Orpha Hubbard of Saranac, and Mrs. Burma Naber of Lake Odessa; two sons, Bert B. and Orley A., both of Lake Odessa, and by 18 grandchildren and three great- grandchildren; also one brother, Alvin Bever, and one sister, Mrs. Henry Karcher. Mrs. Gilliland was converted at the age of 18 and joined the United Brethren church and after moving to Lake Odessa joined the Congregational church with Mr. Gilliland under the pastorate of the Rev. G. A. Arnie. Out of town people attending the funeral were Mrs. J. Burt and Ernest Burt of Flint; Mr. and Mrs. Karl Gilliland, Alto; Mr. and Mrs. Lester Lampman, Lansing; Mrs. Henry Perrin and Mr. and Mrs. E. G. York, Grand Rapids, Mrs. Clara Johnson, and Shirley Ritzman of Hastings.
